Expectations and class policies
It is expected that all students come to class every day ready to learn, participate, and increase their wisdom on this diverse world in which we live in.
Grading
Student grades will be weighted out of 100% based on each of the following categories:
45% = Exams, tests, projects
40% = Classwork and homework assignments
15% = Collaboration and participation
Percentages are then converted to a letter grade based on the following scale:
A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, F=59 or less. All grades are accumulated and based on the work done in class, tasks, projects, presentations, tests and exams.
* Modifications will be made to accommodate different needs.
Projects & Tests/Quizzes
Each unit consists of several ways to demonstrate proficiency of the given standards. You will be expected to complete individual projects, group projects and essays, quizzes, and a comprehensive test for each chapter/unit.
Homework
Homework is checked at the beginning of each class on the specified date. Any work not completed in class must be completed as homework.
Attendance
All absences will follow the Olive Middle School official tardy and absence policy. Grade is subject to change due to absences, tardiness and late work.
It is the responsibility of the student to submit all missed work to the teacher after school or at the discretion of the teacher during class time. Students will receive a zero grade for any incomplete/missing work until the student submits it before the end of the grading period. Late work will not be accepted after the end of the grading period.
